I am an actor going overseas to look for work. Should I try and get a demo done before I go? Can I get work in other countries with my accent?

Yes and Yes. The markets change from country to country. In your own country your voice is profiled by your demographic (e.g. male mid 20′s). In a new country your accent becomes foreign and thus becomes the dominant characteristic of your profile. This means your demo changes. Your demo then needs to change to match the perception of who you are by that nation, so your demo in your own country would be different to your demo in a new country. For example, if you are an American voice artist in Australia your demo would need to be appropriate for how Australians would use American voice such as such as skin and hair care (eg Loreal, Neutragena), kids products (Barbie), mock personality impersonations (Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, George Bush etc), and cliché characters (hip hop guy, surfer dude, southern belle etc).
